Robin Deems is a Science Consultant with the Ohio Department of Education. Robin is a charismatic STEM Educator who has used her 25+ years of experience working within formal and informal education environments to come alongside Ohio teachers; providing guidance, inspiration, encouragement, appreciation and practical tools for their teaching toolbox; thereby empowering them to do the great work that they do in growing our Ohio students into the critically-thinking, collaborative, creative, communicative, and scientifically literate decision makers.
Robin is passionate about getting students and teachers outside of their classrooms and into their schoolyards and neighborhoods to discover, learn and develop connections with the environmental systems at work. Through this exposure, students discern ways in which they impact these systems and thereby develop into not only scientifically literate citizens, but hopefully environmentally friendly citizens with a relationship to the natural world and one they desire to maintain and protect. She has been an active member of the National Association for Interpretation (NAI), Environmental Education Association of Indiana (EEAI), Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC), Science Education Council of Ohio (SECO), and the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA). She was a member of the Advisory Board for the 2017 Ohio Science Standards Revision process and is the current District 7 Director for SECO, serving the counties of Franklin, Fayette, Madison, and Pickaway.
Robin lives in Lewis Center, Ohio with her husband, Andy, 12 yr. old twins Laura and Peter, , and Yorkshire Terrier, Mia.
