Welcome to the 2019 High AIMS Summer Institute! 

High AIMS is a consortium of 30 public school districts in southwest Ohio. Fairfield City Schools will serve as this year’s host to 2,000+ educators for our 6th annual Summer Institute. We will offer two nationally acclaimed keynote speakers and 250 breakout sessions as teachers and administrators immerse themselves in dynamic and inspiring professional learning.

Creating a District Literacy Leadership Team (90 min)

In an effort to increase students' literacy skills in grades 6-12, educators have joined forces to create a district Literacy Leadership Team (LLT). The LLT has created professional development for teachers to increase their knowledge in disciplinary literacy strategies. WOW, this is making a difference! The presenter will share experiences along this journey and their plan for the future.

Jennifer Lewis has taught in a self-contained classroom for 5th and 6th grade. She has also taught 7th and 8th grade gifted Language Arts and Title I reading for grades K-6. She is currently a Literacy Coach with the Fairfield City School District.

The evolution of SIBS - how a student mentoring program enhances culture, leadership development and PBIS practices in a large high school (45 min)

Students Involving & Befriending Students (SIBS) is a leadership program which features more than 140 upperclassmen mentoring freshmen, and enhancing the climate and culture of the school and community. This interactive session will explain the growth and design of the program, and how programs like Link Leaders can be developed into an impactful, year-round leadership program within your high school. Topics will include addressing passion, lessening over-involvement, and making authentic connections and differences in your community.
