Sometimes teachers struggle with students who appear to give up, don’t understand problem solving skills, or believe that if they wait long enough the teacher will provide the answer. How do students overcome learned helplessness? How can teachers give students the tools to succeed and increase their understanding and confidence through motivational strategies? Math teachers will explore strategies which include number talks, 3 act tasks, rubrics, math tools and growth mindset.
